The Evolution of Peace
As human beings we have gone through the inevitable.
Discrimination.
We go through lessons we don't seem to learn.
We fight battles just to end up right where we started.
We don't understand and we don't plan.
We act on instinct, not common sense.
Let me take you back to where it all started and you’ll see,
that we are still stuck in a bad place to be.
Enslaved with no rights and no will of their own,
they were beaten and shipped and sold and thrown.
They followed the Nazis to their doom,
they prayed and prayed but help didn't come soon.
She wanted to work, she wanted to fight,
not stay at home and cook all night.
So she marched and she fought and she won her own rights.
Brutally beaten because of their race,
peace came at such a slow pace.
Same sex hand in hand not allowed to stand before god
to prove their love is true.
Walking down the street black men are not safe.
Hands down.
Hoods off.
Stand still.
Don't tick off the cops.
Ever since kindergarten I’ve been taught to treat people the way I want to be treated.
I know I don't want to be attacked because of my race.
